comment Strange spots on Dell U2711 monitor on medium-bright colors
@MikeB unfortunately no. The spots disappear when the monitor isn't heavily used for a long time, that's the only good think in all of this.

comment Unable to intall windows 7 with linux mint 17.2 in dual boot. Partition error occuring
Windows needs to create 1-2 partitions if you're using MBR, and 3 additional partitions if you're using GPT with UEFI. Unfortunately I don't have a definitive answer for you, because all guides specifically say that Windows must come first. What you can look into is how to back up your Linux partition (clonezilla might help), repartition the whole drive so that Windows partition is first, install Windows, then restore the Linux partition after that, and install GRUB.

Unfortunately I asked for ways to fix them, and did not get an answer. Returning it to Dell is not an option for me. I will vote it up though, so people who see this question would pay more attention to this as a solution for them if they could return it to Dell.

I don't know why it would be moisture damage, though it does look like it suffered from a flood. The room it has always been has never been damp. I actually bought a humidifier since the dry air was killing my eyes. And the warranty already expired. No official Dell representation in my region :(

The spot on the top is right after the first 1/4 of the monitor width. I just didn't take the photo of the whole monitor since my problems are on the left mostly. Strange you mentioned magnetic fields, since on the left of the monitor, a few cm away, is my A/V receiver and Front speaker. Both well shielded, never react to mobile phone ringing even if placed on them, but still...

I've googled my problem many times, and seen that post as well. The monitor has no visible issues when turned off, or when displaying a black image. I've cleaned my monitor dozens of times during the 2 year period I've had the issue with the above spot (the first one that I saw).

@MinaIsaac, indeed, don't just accept an answer to close the issue and forget. If no answer fits your solution, then don't accept any. Listen to Arjan, tell us what's up. You've asked a question, now follow through so that the community could also gain from it.

@MinaIsaac, if you want a more specific RewriteCond, then use this: ^mail\.mydomain\.com$ instead of what you used (though I wouldn't be so speciffic. At least don't put the dollar $ sign at the end). And you changing the RewriteRule caused it not to work. Leave it to ^.*. If the RewriteCond passes, then you already have a request to mail.mydomain.com. Any such request should be forbidden. Don't try to insert any more rules there. Especially that RewriteRule only checks the trailing path (ex. /images/house.jpg). It does not contain the domain.
