Al right, so if I delete a friend from Skype, he won't be informed (and will I be deleted from his contacts list ?)

@nimble @studiohack It is actually running since 20 minutes. That's why I'm asking. I just need some quick tip how this is usually done. Maybe some other text editor?

comment How can I remove the first character from all filenames in a folder?
all right, now it works. I still have a small issue, the first character is actually a ".", so I have 2 initial characters to remove "._filename.jpg" and not "_filename.jpg". Do you how to deal with the dots ?

comment How to rename 80.000 files at once in Windows
I like your approach, but i have 2 issues: (1) the first letters of the filenames are replaced. In other terms, the "._" is not added at the beginning but it replaces the first 2 letters. (2) "._" actually doesn't work. If I use, for instance "__" then it works. I think the dot, "." gives some issues

So what compression format you suggest. Yeah exactly I'm compressing on mac and uncompressing on Windows.

comment Cannot uncompress a segmented zip file
I'm now using 7Zip and I get "unsupported compression method" error. I will try Winrar, but do you think it is the extraction software, or rather a bad compression ?

comment zip: Argument list too long (80.000 files in overall)
I've done what you suggest and I have a small myzip.zip (7mb) and the segments (200mb each). However, I cannot unzip the content, I'm running unzip unix myzip.zip but I get "bad zipfile offset (lseek)". Furthermore, I need to extract them in Windows environment as well, and there I only have Windows 7 extractor I guess.

@ajaz I forgot to mention that since the ip of my virtual machine chenges, also a shell solution is acceptable. In other terms, I need anyway to set it everytime I restart the virtual machine, so could I set it from shell ?

comment How can I share the folder var/www on my emulated Ubuntu virtual machine with the hosting OS?
I've found out why. I was linking all files inside the folder instead of the parent folder. Obviously this didn't work..

@fideli mhm ok, they modified files and folders just disappear from apache if I access the directory with my browser. I need to fix this, since I want to edit these files with an external editor from the hosting os

@fideli the link worked thanks. I still have one question, I've deleted a folder with the hosting OS and they changed color in the Ubuntu terminal but they are still there. What does that mean ?
