Hi, I'm Chris Disbro I live in the Indianapolis, Indiana area and am currently working for a small IT Consulting company. I love computers and electronics and enjoy keeping up with the industry.

Everyone needs a break every now and then and I love the great outdoors and nature. I can often be caught camping, hiking and traveling with my family when we all have the free time. I love meeting new people and hearing/helping with new business ventures and ideas. Especially if there is some way that we can work some fun new technology into the mix.

comment How to remove enpoint protection 11?
Wow, that is annoying. What error message do you receive when you try to turn on MSE RTP? Is there anything relating to this in the event log? go to start -> Run -> MSConfig and make sure nothing related to Symantec is enabled in the start-up sections, reboot and try again. Also, run this appremover.com and see if anything from symantec appears.

If you were trying to go the MSG route, you would need a script to check the DHCP leases of your router, when a new lease is detected you would have it send a MSG /Server:$NEW-IP "Hi" but depending on your scripting abilities this might be more difficult to setup and users might have this blocked.

@Daniel B there are a few, SOHO routers and a handful of discrete, consumer access points that offer this, although I can't think of any off the top of my head. DD-WRT, and maybe some of the other custom router firmware supports this as well.

comment Can't access Administrator account on Windows XP after adding local user account
I thought if you press ctrl+alt+del twice from the welcome screen you can then log in as the administrator, it's been awhile though.

comment How to use the SSD for caching in Windows without Intel Smart Response?
An alternative would be to partition off part of the SSD and have it mount on boot as a seperate drive in windows. Now move all of your various temp directories and the like to this drive, also make sure to set any applications working directories to this drive. This should give you a performance increase in windows.

Those are the only alternatives that I am aware of as well.

comment why would running apache as a service produce different results when simply starting it from the command line
A few other ideas on things to check would be to make sure that they are using the same config file, I would not think that was it, but its worth a try, run httpd.exe -n "PHPServiceName" this should start it with the config files that the service is using. I know you mentioned that the users are the same, but perhaps go into the PHP Service and change the user to an administrator account and see if that makes a difference. Is there any information in the logs? Is the logged information the same or difference when you perform the same task on each?
