comment The best way to make MacVim's vim (console, not mvim) the default instead of Mac OS X's vim?
@BenMezger: Homebrew doesn't touch your original binaries, it installs packages at your /usr/local. So when you remove macvim, you're with original Mac OSX's vim.

Nice trick. I've used in a different situation than the one provided here. Thanks!

comment Command line media catalog for some backup dvds - is there such a thing?
@meduz Actually, you can use a binary called tree and do tree /media/my_media/ > ~/Desktop/catalog.txt, since you can have a lot of subfolders.

comment How to start gVim maximized?
Interesting. Maybe you can dinamically get the lines and columns values in vimscript, so this config will work in all devices.

Indeed. But now I'm addicted to taskwarrior! :) Thanks anyway!

comment Key is not detected in xev neither showkey -k in Ubuntu 10.04 in a Virtualbox VM
Yep. But I don't even have that Virtual Machine anymore, so it's not worth the hassle and I can't test your solution (although "If nothing new appears in dmesg then your key does not have a scancode, which means that it is not recognized by the kernel and cannot be used.", I only mark as accepted if I can test for sure). But thanks for passing by, your post may me useful for someone! +1

I'm with too many plugins already, I started using builtin functions for some stuff... but thanks for the suggestion!

comment Is it possible to download corrupted torrent files, even with a download client builtin checksum verification?
You sir, hit the nail on the head. Re-checking did the work, it downloaded again a lot of parts. I don't know if your theory about the RAM is correct, but at least solved my problem. It's not the best thing to do (re-check every download since it takes a long time) but at least fixes the problems. Thanks!

Actually, the option is "Verify Local Data".

This is an interesting theory. The re-check option exists on transmission. I'll need to redownload the torrent files though and test again. Thanks!

comment How to start gVim maximized?
@AndresRiofrio For these situations (multiple desktop environments in Linux), I am seriously thinking about using devilspie. It's a third-party solution, I know, but it may work. I've used it in some other applications I wanted to be open maximized.

comment Transfer exif gps info from one image to another
@grawity and @haimg: exiftool −overwrite_original_in_place -r -tagsFromFile SOURCE.JPG -gps:all . - the -r option recurses into the directory (.), and the -gps:all, well... it's just what I was looking for. I beat you, grawity! :) I think you can edit this post and add this snippet, but remember to warn people to read exiftool --help to understand the other options I gave... thank you all!

@grawity: Does ${@:2} mean multiple arguments? If so, you solved my problem with SIX LINES!!

+1 @haimg, you're posting the options I can use really put into use. (But I'm still looking for something out of the box :)

I've read about it, but I'm going to need to script a lot of stuff (with bash, python, whatever). I was looking for something already done in the terms I asked.

comment The best way to make MacVim's vim (console, not mvim) the default instead of Mac OS X's vim?
Since I said I'm already using homebrew, I think this is indeed the best option: I didn't know this option was possible. Thanks!

comment The best way to make MacVim's vim (console, not mvim) the default instead of Mac OS X's vim?
That's why I'm thinking about /usr/local/bin and not /usr/bin. homebrew uses /usr/local/bin for some formulas so I don't think it's going to be a problem.

Hum, but you gave me an idea: if I symlink vim to /usr/local/bin and using the $PATH approach, it may work.

comment The best way to make MacVim's vim (console, not mvim) the default instead of Mac OS X's vim?
I don't want to make mvim the default. I want to call MacVim's vim (/Users/user/Applications/MacVim.app/Contents/MacOS/Vim) when I write down vim on terminal instead of system's vim (/usr/bin/vim).

Since vim is an interactive application, doing an alias that overrides the System's Vim isn't going to be that harmful, I guess...
