comment How to make 7-Zip faster
Regarding #2 -- 7-zip does not currently have any sort of "recovery record" or "ecc" ability. You'll need 3rd party software like QuickPar/MultiPar or ICE ECC, but then it's not part of the archive.

The nice thing about HoboCopy is that it can use VSS to copy locked files all by itself. No messing about required. @Earlz: VSS stands for Volume Snapshot Service, not Visual SourceSafe.

comment Even having 4 gb of ram my system is very slow
+1 for indicating that "slow" needs to be defined before we can tell what "fast" is. Oh, and back up before doing anything!

I didn't downvote, but my guess would be it's for telling the user to go about deleting things and making other changes without without first figuring out what's wrong.

comment saving excel files to file paths or directories with special characters
Square Brackets are legal filename characters in Windows, it's angled brackets (<>) that aren't legal. I don't know why Excel gets this wrong though, it's really annoying.

comment hardlinks on ntfs with windows
.lnk files are shortcut files -- a shell-level item. Symlinks are an NTFS-level link.
