comment Removing HD from PC and putting in another PC
You could try Safe Mode which might run a bit more nicely and give you a chance to install drivers and such.

comment What can I do with a spare computer with no hope of salvage?
Some companies (in the UK, PC World/Currys) will take old computers for disposal. I don't know Best Buy will do this.

If the terminology on Wikipedia is too complex, there is always the option of the Simple English Wiki. While not having as much content as the main english wiki, it can help for easier understanding of the topic (although, for example, don't expect it to have an explanation on quantum physics).

You could buy a wireless graphics card (yes, seriously: bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2011/01/12/…) although the cost is going to be a bit higher than you'd like it to be.

I'd prefer Media Player Classic - Home Cinema over VLC.

LogMeIn would probably be better, as it involves setting it up then that's it, while TeamViewer needs the client (ie your user) to type in a PIn each time a connection is required.

comment How to play all Windows 7 sounds from PC speaker?
Is there any reason you can't buy your own speaker? And I thought the internal speaker (if there is one) isn't capable of producing a decent enough range of tones.

comment VirtualBox: VPN networking test environment
when m0n0wall was installed on the VMG there was a DHCP server activated which game the VM<N>'s (on the internal network) their IP and also set their gateway to the IP of the VMG box. There was no work done on the guest client machine.
