nope, just localhost, and not MyExDrive. The file location was pasted right from the Get Info portion of the folder. So it's appearing somewhere on the main HD...

Let me clarify that a little more, it appears it's here: file://localhost/Volumes/SugarSync

Yes, /Volumes/Sugar-Sync. But what i'm not sure of is where those files are actually being stored.. My guess is a temp folder on the OS drive, but I can't seem to map where they actually reside.

I was using 1.x since the beginning until now, I only installed 2.x thinking I would gain an advantage in using Alias folders, but didn't realize it sets up a 'drive' on the mac. It appears 1.x has the advantage of choosing where your synced files appear on your computer, i.e. I can choose to put files on a secondary INternal hard drive. In my case my option is an external HD with all the space. Thus, trying to force the software to recognize it...

Issues i've found so far. It depends on what version of the SS software you're running. The old one, 1.x, had a specific location of the folder, i.e. user->documents->magic briefcase. But with the new 2.x version, it now appears as a Drive in the finder. I tried using Alias folders, but version 1.x didn't honor the changes.

comment Downloaded files not launching in Chrome - Why?
yes I have. It's the strange behavior of not being able to click on the files and having them launch that's the problem.

comment Are there ASCII characters that have the same keyboard input for both PC and Mac?
@dmckee Indeed point well taken. Didn't realize the depth of the question perhaps. An easy way to strengthen passwords is using characters from the ASCII set, but it's not really 'convenient' to have to constantly change between PC and Mac for those who are frequently on both systems. So in a short, uneducated way, I was just asking if there's an easy way to input ASCII characters on both PC and Mac without having to learn both systems.

easy, if you're entering passwords same keyboard mapping would be great. Yeah, i only meant Alt+6 as a bland example, not a specific keystroke. Just trying to illustrate using the same shortcut on each platform for the same ASCII symbol.

comment How can I change the default shortcut in Windows for closing programs?
Alt+F4 will close a program for me. I just checked the 'Quit' command in Word and it's Alt+F4. Perhaps a registry edit? Not sure where to look though.

comment Networking Mac and PC - Firewall Issue?
Gotcha, so as long as I am connected with the mac it's ok. When i'm not networked to it - when i don't connect to the PC from the Mac side - should I close it?

Update, I opened up port 445 and checked Domain and Private and left Public unchecked. That seemed to work. Is it still safe to do this?

I have, it doesn't appear to work to just open up that port. Yes, sharing files via smb://My-PC on the mac side

Windows Firewall. UPDATE: so I allowed all connections for ICMPv4, domain, public and private. That worked, but it seemed a little unsafe. Is it ok to leave this open? Allow all connection from this?

I tried to allow all ICMPv4 packets through, but still no luck. Crazy thing is, it used to work yesterday, and I never changed any firewall settings, anywhere.
