comment Firefox 3.6 so slow to start
I think it's worth creating a new separate profile, just as a test. It's easy enough to do and you can remove it if you find no improvement. Just create a short-cut to the firefox.exe and at the end of the 'target' line ad -p launcj firefox and follow the prompts, for now you can simplay place the profile folder on your desktop. Don't add anything to it and see how that start-up times compare. if, after using it for a while you find an improvement, we know it's a problem with the old profile and act accordingly.

comment Command line tool for copying changed files
Robocopy also has the /mir switch, which will mirror two directories. if you need more then as suggested by others, SyncToy has command line capabilities but it doesn't support file deltas. You could also install cygwin cygwin.com and use rsync, you could also use cwsync itefix.no/i2/cwrsync or Unison cis.upenn.edu/~bcpierce/unison

No worries :) A minute is better than 5, so at least we're getting there. The .NET stuff is a pain, you should search on that for proper removal, it's not needed and there are lots about that subject. Don't forget to vacuum occasionally :)

The only other way I can think of is by writing a batch file or a powershell script that calls the Devcon utility. Take a look at this support.microsoft.com/kb/311272 It does work with Windows 7
