comment How to plot data for several signals, one above the other?
I think it would have been more in spirit of this site if you had edited your old question with data from this one, but whatever. I certainly hope someone will be able to answer this.

comment Is there a “restore point” in Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) like Windows?
I know that this is off-topic, so I'm adding it as comment, but OpenSolaris can make a snapshot of entire ZFS file system and restore it later. It doesn't take much disk space too, because of deduplication. In fact the standard way to make major upgrades is to create a new FS snapshot and install the upgrades on it. If ti works, you can delete the old one. If not, you can just go back to the one that was working.

comment Does virtual box mean my hardware only has to be compatible with the host OS?
@Ignacio Vazquez-Abrams OK, but what about the "Although some VM products can work without it" part? On the other hand, I'm not so sure about "64-bits guest on a 32-bits host" part. I always thought that VT-x was part of 64bit instruction set and unavailable on 32bti hosts. Is that correct?

Why all down votes? It's good idea to look for computer with hardware virtualization! Several popular programs required it until recently to work with 64bit guests! (VMware, XP mode, VirtualBox) I know I regretted many times not checking if my laptop supports VT-x. I even had to hack UEFI to enable it. The RAM point is correct also.

comment Does the BIOS beep come from the same sound hardware channel
My 64bit version doesn't. 64bit vista had beep completely disabled, can't guarantee for 32bit, but I think it doesn't either. Just to be sure, you can always start CMD and type crtl+g and after that enter.

comment Computer won't turn on. Is it the motherboard, RAM or CPU?
This is stupid, but check if power button if correctly connected to motherboard and if it is working correctly. I've seen a computer with malfunctioning power button and the problem was really difficult to solve. It's just that no one ever thinks it can stop working.
