comment What can DVDs do that flash drives can't?
Actually, there are drives which do have such functionality! For example thinkgeek.com/gadgets/security/99f1 Here's a source for encryption debate: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_Scramble_System Still, the encryption in DVDs is by today's standards laughable.

comment Operating system and disk format for a home server
Just a quick question: why ext2? It's very old and doesn't use journaling. ext3 has been stable and a default file system for a long time now and some distributions are starting to switch over to ext4. Is there some benefit to ext2 that does not apply to ext3 and ext4?

Also, make sure you run a anti-virus check just in case. Some pornographic/pirate sites attempt to install viruses on their visitor's computers.

comment How to diagnose very slow pagefile
Wow! I'm shocked to see that large number of fragments. I think that's your biggest issue right now. Defragment pagefile as soon as possible. I was actually expecting you to have few fragments, but 128! That's in my opinion an enormous number.

comment Radeon 5850 Why am I not getting 3 monitors up as a choice?
It could be that your card just doesn't support three displays at one time. I remember having cards with 3 connectors where only two will work at one time.

comment iR Remote TO IR Reciever in phone TO PC
Be careful here. Remote control devices are usually consumer IR, not IrDA. There's no guarantee that IrDA receiver will work with remote.

comment After installation of new drivers, Ubuntu won't boot into graphics mode
There is a second choice, but it doesn't have any more options than first. Just to be clear, I can access root account and use terminal, I just have no idea how to fix the mess.

I get a black screen and have to bring X server down in such situations. Anyway, I can get to terminal from KDE, but I'd rather not reinstall Ubuntu, if possible.

comment NAS + Hard Drives + US Customs = World of Pain?
I meant the "won't be bothered". I won't comment about check-in or carry-on because I don't know situation in US about that. In my country, customs sometimes do check stuff transported in cargo bays. If you do check it in, make sure it's packed good, so it'll avoid damage from being dropped.
