comment T1 vs multiple DSL lines
I'm planning on using the Cisco RV016, which supports up to 7 WANs and runs around $400 cisco.com/en/US/products/ps9924/index.html

Yes, rural. 14,500 ft to the CO. The other day a tech tested the copper at 1Mb down, 512kb up.

Cable is not an option unless I want to pay $20,000 to have it run the distance.

The house is worth extra expenses to get a decent internet connection.

They just ran an extra line, so there are two lines to the house now. It costs about $200 per line. I have line of sight to a wireless tower, they charge $45/month for 1Mb/s down, 512kb/s up. I can probably get a faster connection if I talk with them, they are a local company.

comment Looking for a router with multiple WAN ports and load balancing
I have another option - a T1 for $308 per month, but it's only 1.544Mbps down and up. Seems like I'd be better off with a pair of DSL lines and maybe a WiMax connection.

Thanks for the equipment recommendations. Does anyone know if the load balancing on them will be good enough to balance the load from a single windows 7 machine? For instance, web browsing while transferring files via FTP. Would they be smart enough to balance multiple FTP threads?

Thanks. CPU-Z works. I already knew how my CPU works, and I already have "All CPU Meter", but ACM doesn't show the actual GHz, it just shows percentages. CPU-Z confirmed that my CPU is idling down to 1.2GHz and boosting to 3.2GHz. The Intel Turbo Monitor only shows boost, it never shows below 1.87GHz.

comment Need text editor that can save locally AND via FTP for Linux - switching from EditPlus on windows
there's lots of editors that allow editing of remote files. I'm looking for a way to save locally AND remotely either at the same time or with a few keystrokes without having to program a script for every file I work on.

Will that setup save locally and remotely at the same time? Is vim able to save locally and remotely at the same time?
