I love to program, tinker with things and generally a curious person. My career started with developing DOS TSRs in x86 Assembler. My daily work includes programming in Delphi (Windows), Ruby on Rails (Linux) and Java (Android).

My company Hagel Technologies makes network bandwidth monitor DU Meter and other software. I sometimes write in my blog.

comment Heat Transfer Paste reapplication
Thermal paste is usually thick, especially old one. So choose cotton buds that are "hard", not the "puffy" soft ones, otherwise they will disintegrate, leaving sticky cotton fibers all over the place. Otherwise they are ok.

comment Is testing Cat5 cable using a testing device necessary if I have verified connectivity with a computer?
What tester was it? Any tester that certifies for CAT6e should have flagged these cables. But these testers cost $5K+, and cheap "continuity testers" mentioned in other answer cannot detect such cables of course.

We usually prefer answers that actually answer the question, not just a link or several links.

comment With 64kbps upload speed, is it worth buying a 720p webcam?
Yeah your 512kbps ADSL is suitable for good quality VGA, but still no go for 720p HD. However, HD cameras are better quality in general, so it's up to you... If you plan to upgrade your ADSL in the future, that HD camera might come handy then.

comment Are there alternatives to using Windows 98 print server and if not what should be secured?
I've used these with POS and dot-matrix printers, no problems... And laserjet is fairly standard. But YMMV of course.

No difference. You'll see that port as LPT1 or LPT-something in Ports tab in "Printer properties". These adapters are specifically made to connect old hardware to new computers.
