I love to program, tinker with things and generally a curious person. My career started with developing DOS TSRs in x86 Assembler. My daily work includes programming in Delphi (Windows), Ruby on Rails (Linux) and Java (Android).

My company Hagel Technologies makes network bandwidth monitor DU Meter and other software. I sometimes write in my blog.

@Pacifier: These 3 lines specify the folder's icon in Explorer. See hwiegman.home.xs4all.nl/desktopini.html and msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/… for more info, actually if you google desktop.ini lots of useful info turns up :-)

There are lots of "customized" folders by default: Documents, Pictures, Downloads, etc. Each time you use View|Customize in Windows Explorer, such file is created. So it's ok to have lots of these (hidden) desktop.ini files. But of course I cannot say that all your desktop.ini files could be safely deleted, I don't know for sure that all these files are indeed folder customization files...

What distro? There are usually tools bundled with your distribution...

I added clarification about my claim about auto-negotiation. Unfortunately, NIC config GUIs are often too vague about what they actually do/change.
