comment How can I find all hardlinked files on a filesystem?
Thanks, this is not exactly what I wanted, but close enough. I can add '%i' to print the inode numbers and then sort/group by it...

comment Can Linux scrub memory?
@JayD: That reserved physical memory off-limits to kernel and not touched by the kernel or anything else.

comment How to integrate Thunderbird with SpamAssassin running on the server?
@Yedric: Yeah, I know (and this is probably the way to go if I don't receive a better answer). However, I would like to do it with one mouseclick/keyboard shortcut. Doing Message|MoveTo|Recent|Spam or Message|CopyTo|Recent|Ham each time I want to train SpamAssassin is tiresome. Pity I cannot assign a shortcut or make a toolbar button for these two actions easily.

comment How to integrate Thunderbird with SpamAssassin running on the server?
@Hennes: Says "not compatible" when trying to install. I haven't tried to force it and see if it works or not...

comment How to force Windows 7 to ask for a “fresh” IP address from DHCP server?
@Iszi: it doesn't help. Windows will propose the same IP when renewing the lease.

comment How to force Windows 7 to ask for a “fresh” IP address from DHCP server?
Yes, static IP will work... However, I've specifically stated that I'm debugging a problem with DHCP, so I need an answer to my question, not a workaround.

comment Is there any way to stop or pause Windows software raid re-synching?
@HarryJohnston: You're correct, I amended my question. Although Windows' software RAID/LDM can be considered "fake" if comparing to other software raid or LVM implementations :-(

comment Is there any way to stop or pause Windows software raid re-synching?
Real RAID device does all its math in hardware, and RAID arrays are presented to the OS as one disk. It handles synching, spares, etc. totally transparently to the OS, the card often has huge battery-backed cache, etc. Real RAID card is something like this: lsi.com/products/storagecomponents/Pages/… Windows with its toy immature implementation doesn't come anywhere close to a real hardware raid. But real RAID is expensive, and Windows fake-raid is built-in.

comment Hard drive failure during a move
Hard drives die eventually. When it dies like this (electronics are dead, no response at all), it is usually not a mechanical failure from sudden acceleration (drop). More likely something else, like sudden change in barometric pressure or air humidity, or something else entirely.

comment Can I have both Windows dynamic disk partition and some other non-Windows partition on the same disk?
Thank you, this is interesting. I asked about sharing the physical disk however, e.g. having an exta non-Windows partition on the same disk besides the Windows LDM partition, not accessing Windows dynamic disk partitions from Linux.

comment Can I have both Windows dynamic disk partition and some other non-Windows partition on the same disk?
This is a nice and reasonable advice. However, it does not answer my question.

comment Can I have both Windows dynamic disk partition and some other non-Windows partition on the same disk?
There is no such thing as "disk being labeled as dynamic". Internally, Windows creates an LDM partition that spans the whole disk. See, for example, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/….

comment Use bluetooth keyboard to access/edit BIOS?
I have two different dongles with WIDCOMM chipsets, and unfortunately they don't work (till OS driver is loaded, that is).

comment Will breaking ICH10R RAID1 (Mirror) retain all data on both disks?
Disk data remains. However, BSOD happens even if RAID is not the boot/system disk, if converted to AHCI. Here's how to fix: support.microsoft.com/kb/922976

comment Will breaking ICH10R RAID1 (Mirror) retain all data on both disks?
Thanks... Unfortunately, I cannot switch to AHCI (I have other RAID1 mirror which I intend to keep, and which is indeed my boot drive).

comment How do I annotate an image?
Well good luck finding what you're looking for... I think that will be tough, and you might consider relaxing your requirements a bit. For example, consider a web service and not a standalone app, like one of these mentioned in nik's answer.

comment Pinpointing hardware issue (green squares on boot)
Are there any other ill effects except for these green rectangles flashing for a second? If not, then it is probably because your video card is not being fully/properly reset during POST, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Do you have a specific problem where you think cgroups is a proper solution?
