I love to program, tinker with things and generally a curious person. My career started with developing DOS TSRs in x86 Assembler. My daily work includes programming in Delphi (Windows), Ruby on Rails (Linux) and Java (Android).

My company Hagel Technologies makes network bandwidth monitor DU Meter and other software. I sometimes write in my blog.

comment How to share a folder as an USB mass storage device (from a raspberry pi)
From my experience, interfacing LCDs via LVDS is very far from trivial.

comment Is there a USB power consumption meter?
Please note that the "Power required" data is whatever the usb devices is reporting as its maximum, it's not an actual measurement. Nothing prevents a device from reporting 100 mA and actually drawing more (up to a limit, of course). So, if you have an in-line keylogger, it will not be reflected here since the USB keyboard does not know about it.

Please elaborate what do you mean by "disabled document". You couldn't open it with Word, or what?

comment Cap transfer rates on shared dirs?
@RachelNark: You cannot do what you're asking using built-in Windows tools. And using any other third-party software/hardware for rate-limiting and capping SMB traffic will be more difficult than just switch to a different protocol, and use a dedicated server that supports rate-limiting and or caps (BitTorrent, FTP, etc.)

comment Cap transfer rates on shared dirs?
How are this USB drive contents shared? Most probably, you'll need to set up caps and/or rate limiting in the software that facilitates this sharing.

comment Will Windows 8 increase the memory cap of 2 GB?
Most probably not. The limit is in the hardware, not software, so it will apply no matter what OS you're using.

comment Is it possible to FORMAT an external hard disk that has been encrypted using Storagecrypt?
Do you still have StorageCrypt installed? I suspect its driver is preventing deletion of the encrypted volume. Uninstall StorageCrypt first.

comment Is it normal for CDs/DVDs to decay over time, and what can we do about it?
@Pekka: Your two questions (about CDs and cloud storage) are pretty unrelated, and both were discussed here on su.com... For example: superuser.com/questions/251369/… (there are other similar topics)

Original poster specifically mentions that mount -o remount,rw fails, you're suggesting essentially the same thing.

comment uTorrent disk overloaded error
@AlexanderCeed: I tried to diagnose this (I have this problem as well), and came to a conclusion that this is some kind of uTorrent bug; e.g. disk is not really overloaded when uTorrent claims so, so I think this solution is correct: either wait for a fix or switch to a different client.

comment Upgrading RAM - Motherboard Support?
@Lynda: Either work with just one stick (if 8GB sticks are supported), or work in dual-channel mode with 4Gb from both sticks, or just flat out refuse to start-up with an unsupported memory configuration.

I don't know about this particular chipset, but usually such hack is not possible. I'm afraid you're stuck with max 8GB on this board.

Note that some subscriptions have special terms... E.g. my "Empower ISV" subscription used to have better licensing terms than the generic MSDN subscription. Terms also vary from country to country.

comment Can a monitor get damaged due to rotating?
Pay special attention to connections. I'd say the DVI cables and connectors will receive most stress during rotation if you're not careful, and are first to give if you rotate your monitors often (often = several times a day). And of course it doesn't matter if your monitor is on or off.
