Why to SU and not to SF?

comment Is there a way to run a specific script with every “halt” and “reboot” command on Linux?
There are many different init systems in the field right now (SysV, systemd, ...). Which Linux distribution do you use and which init system does it come with?

comment In Windows 8, how do you disable the unlock password for Microsoft Accounts?
@Huckle: Alternatively you could set a PIN (4 digit code) for bypassing password login.

comment full-screen browsing with IE10 on Windows 8
@edusysadmin, what do you mean by "split between ..."? Do you mean the ability to "jump" between the two instances or do you mean the screen-splitting-feature of Windows 8?

comment I have IPv6. Why does my connection to the Windows Store fail?
@Razor: You can call the settings charm with Win+i (not Win+C) (section "Last resort: refresh") (Was unable to suggest an edit, since the change would be less than 6 chars).

comment Is there anyway to configure Google account for Windows 8 Sync?
Yes, but what is the advantage of using the Google account instead of the Microsoft account, assumed they both would provide same functionality?

A developer can run his own application, but he has to request a special, very time limited developer license for this purpose. This allows him to launch the apps he is developing during the time of development.

I do not see any effort you would gain in changing the account used for syncing.

I also discovered this some days ago, the layout handling changed in a very good way. +1 for the Win+Space

I guess he means the LUKS developers. Ubuntu uses ecryptfs, afaik.

My solution was to choose "US International". This layout is a normal US layout with the addition to easily compose special characters as used in German or Danish by using "Alt Gr".

This does strongly depend on the line ending format used in the file.

+1 since it's much better than starting whole nautilus as root.

It's generally a bad thing to run any graphically application (especially file browsers) with root privileges.

comment Can someone clear up the terms Core Duo CPU, Quad Core, Dual CPU, etc.?
Remark: »Core Duo« is a Intel CPU derived from the Pentium M, which means it is a 32 bit CPU and designed like Pentium processors. »Core 2 Duo« is a completely new 64 bit architecture. I would suggest buying a computer with the new Core 2 Duo CPU rather than the »old« Pentium.

comment Why can't I use my own ftp.exe?
Of cause: It is generally better to not modify the system files of your operating system, but I think there is no method how to do this without modifying any system files and he/she wanted to know a solution how to bypass this feature.

Yes, I'm using two layouts. I'd like to use another layout to type texts than to use in the console and to code.
