comment Heating issue on i5 3570k
Informaficker: all the Intel CPUs I've done come with thermal paste. Is the 3570K different (no paste included)?

Hey Tikkes. Are you sure the heatsink is seated properly on the CPU? If it's a little loose is may not work properly. (Also, I assume you haven't overclocked yet since the aftermarket cooler doesn't fit.)

comment How to style window borders in Linux Mint w/ Cinnamon?
Sure. There's also the option of downloading entirely new themes, some of which drastically alter the appearance. I found one (FiftyWays?) that looked good as a test for answering this question, but I just couldn't get the thing to install no matter where I put it. Oh well.

Have you looked at the "Other Settings" tab in the Cinnamon Settings -> Themes dialog? It allows you to select some other options for how the borders/buttons look. That said, I don't find any of the other options better.

comment How are User files in Windows 7 protected?
I physically mount the drive. As a test, I just ran up a Linux Live CD and wrote a file to c:/Windows/System32 with no problem. The Everybody group definitely does not have write access to that directory (after booting back into Windows, confirmed with "effective permissions"). As I said, I only have access to Vista, but I would be surprised if this has changed.

@Rob, @PeanutsMonkey: I've updated my answer to try and capture the difference between man and using less normally.

That would explain the behaviour I saw. Now, why it's changing the CWD, that's another question...

Also, the Sysinternals utilities that @root suggests are very good. It is worth trying them out.

This thread is talking about the AAM process and has some suggestions for removing: thaivisa.com/forum/topic/546174-adobe-flash-player-update. Might be useful, but it just came up in search results, I can't vouch for any of the options they give.

Quick search on "LM Service" reveals that it is DRM/spyware that installs with CS5 (see answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/321444.html). If you disable it, CS5 may not work anymore. So I don't think that's it.

Sorry, I don't know what it will be called. It's just another place that automatically started processes can live.

What about in your services list, is it in there and being started automatically?

comment Eclipse making background video skip with almost every click of the mouse
stackoverflow has lots of Eclipse tuning questions/answers, if you're inclined, but I'm not optimistic, since whatever it's doing is affecting your video player process.
