comment An inaccessible folder with a random name has appeared in my ~/Pictures folder
Can you "open" the folder in an editor? Like in Vim: vim 3TNksAEHqX. Use a commandline editor. All folders are just files in Linux, so you can open them. You can do the same with a real folder and compare.

comment Firefox won't play Youtube videos anymore
Disabling HTTPS Everywhere for Youtube does the trick. Not how I would like it, but it's good to know this solution! Thanks!

comment Apache 2.4 vhost not working
I don't see that line in any of the config files inside /etc/httpd. In the Apache 2.4 upgrade page it says that The NameVirtualHost directive no longer has any effect, other than to emit a warning. Any address/port combination appearing in multiple virtual hosts is implicitly treated as a name-based virtual host. See httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/upgrading.html

comment Can't browse HTTPS pages. TLS error. Outobox virus?
Some tips: set your system DNS to 8.8.8.8 (Google) or OpenDNS. Check your hosts file. And make a backup of important data!

Install Firefox, download from ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/30.0/win32/en-US/ if needed. If you open this in your browser it's https again, so you might want to use your ftp program. Then use FF until your problem is solved!

comment FTP clients: why don't they start downloading right away?
Well, sometimes I think that this results in double the download time, and many times I don't care about a progress report. This is similar to Windows Explorer, copying a folder with thousands of files, which can take many minutes before it even starts.
