comment Formatting and partitioning a 3TB disk?
Exactly - so did the scanner. All I'm saying is that you have to check all elements in the chain. In my case it was the cable, which is actually the easiest to check and cheapest to replace.

comment Managing multiple passwords
I have used Lastpass in the past. I stopped after the 3.0 update, because they used such intrusive CSS and Javascript to insert their menu's in website forms. But you can do without the browser integration. And they have great sharing options. I don't know PMP.

comment How to connect a domain name to a host?
You have to setup a webserver (including databaseserver, PHP or other languages if needed), configure firewall, setup port forwarding in the router if it is located at home or at work (to route incoming traffic to the server). And that's what I think of now. It depends on what you want, what OS you run on the server etc. I guess that's another question?!

You should leave the nameservers like they are (ns1, ns2), unless you have a good reason to move them. This can be useful when you have a high traffic site hosted at another location or provider. For you it won't matter I guess. You should add two A records for domain.com and www.domain.com to the IP address of your webserver.

comment UFW: block all traffic for port 3306
Just did the same for Postgres with 5432. I tried the second rule only, but that is not enough. It seems like that is only for incoming traffic? So I needed the deny out to block outgoing traffic.

comment How to setup VIM for php development?
Not directly related, but it may improve VIM... You can install a different color scheme, one that is more (or less) subtle, depending on what you need or like. cocopon.me/app/vim-color-gallery and vimninjas.com/2012/08/26/10-vim-color-schemes-you-need-to-own
