If it consumes electricity, chances are good that I worked with it or at least know about it. SysAdmin and Programmer, worked with Basic and PHP as well as with Delphi. My current bread and butter is C# and JavaScript. I like to do Commodore 64 development as a hobby and dabbled in XNA for prototyping purposes.

I'm also on Twitter and I have a blog.

comment 64 or 32 bit mac?
@Daniel 10.6 has a 64-Bit Kernel, does it? I think that was one of the Major Changes, the system is now 64-Bit bottom to top. On a related note: Early Mac Minis, the first MacBook and MacBook Pro, iMac used the Core Duo which is 32-Bit.

Mac OS X 10.6 can read NTFS Partitions out of the box, no extra software needed. Writing is a different story ofc.

comment Convert TIFF with Alpha Channel to PNG?
That worked, but I had to change the background color from blue to white, otherwise the half-transparent pixels weren't converted properly (they had a blue fringe at the edges)

@hometoast: No. It's what I use, but if there is a better/easier tool for that, I'm more than happy to use it.

comment Is there anything like jigdo?
@Tshepang A, I didn't know that jigdo does that as well. Sorry, not aware of anything that combines BitTorrent-distribution with Delta-Patching :(

comment Encrypting a SSD
@Shinrai Full Disk Encryption isn't always a sign of too much paranoia. I just TrueCrypt's Full Disk Encryption on my Netbook (yes, on an Atom CPU) simply to be on the safe side if it gets stolen or lost. Paranoia would be once you start worrying about data (like the Password/Key) persisting in RAM after the power is off, which is indeed a problem but requires a targeted attack instead of just an accidental loss.

comment Why does Windows 7 have a seven in its name?
@Software Monkey Indeed. If they call Windows 7 7, then they should have already called Windows XP 6, which they didn't. Technically Windows 7 is the 7th NT release though: NT 3.1, 3.5, 4, 5, 5.1, 6, 6.1
