If it consumes electricity, chances are good that I worked with it or at least know about it. SysAdmin and Programmer, worked with Basic and PHP as well as with Delphi. My current bread and butter is C# and JavaScript. I like to do Commodore 64 development as a hobby and dabbled in XNA for prototyping purposes.

I'm also on Twitter and I have a blog.

comment Am I secure from network monitoring software if HTTPS is used?
@senthil The point of HTTPS is to encrypt traffic and to identify the participants. Anyone who controls the line can theoretically be a man in the middle (hence it is even called man-in-the-middle attack) but unlike unencrypted HTTP, this will not stay undetected. As said, check the certificate and who issued it. There is no way usually to fake a certificate (There was a bug in some Debian Linux versions that made it possible to fake certs, but that was so far an isolated incident).

comment Disable Tabbing in Firefox 3, Chrome 4 and IE8?
You can :) Set it to small icons, unlock in and drag it so it's 2 levels high.

If I already know which Window I want, why do I have to search? Why do I have to open the browser window and then search the tab there? If everything is exactly one button in the taskbar, it's very easy and quick to go to any open application without having to actively think about it. Also, unlike ALT+TAB, buttons in the Taskbar don't change positions.

comment Disable Tabbing in Firefox 3, Chrome 4 and IE8?
@Ivo the problem is that I want to reach any open Window with exactly 1 mouse click. That way, I don't have to think and lose my concentration when I need to switch an app. If I have an open window, I memorize it's position in the taskbar automatically. So if I need to open it, I just click it without losing focus on whatever else I am doing.

IE6 won't run on Windows 7 and does not support transparent PNGs, so it's not really an option :) It's still faster and more usable than IE7 and 8 of course.

True, normally Proxies just pass through HTTPS traffic as they can't do anything with it, and I do not know if HTTPS-Inspection is on the rise, but I've seen it happen so I just thought I point out the possibility.

comment Can IIS be installed on the Home Premium Edition of Windows 7
@tkyle Yes, works fine on both Vista and 7 Home Premium. You are limited in the number of simultaneous requests (I think it's 3) and I think it doesn't do Windows Authentication, but it's suitable for development and testing.

That Tweaker did the trick, disabling the grouping is it.

That seems awesome, the "Grouping" section seems to be exactly what I need. I'll check it out this evening.

Thanks, that doesn't resolve the main issue sadly, which is "Keeping related windows together" :(

Thanks. For my purposes, I only need Windows 7 luckily.

comment Multiple Graphics cards - need to be the same?
Thanks for mentioning that, I didn't realize that the 5800's support 3 Displays instead of 2. That and the low power consumption compared to high end nVidia made me buy a 5870.

Thanks for that link, that should help. Now it's still up to me to decide which card to get right now...

I try to avoid having to buy 2 $400 cards when the second one is not used for gaming :) Otherwise I'd gladly take 2 of the same.

Then I'm almost afraid to say you've lost, unless you want to turn to some professional data recovery company :(

comment Tool that gets e-Mail and prints out attachments
Problem is that I'm a .net Developer, and there is no supported way to print from a .net Windows Service (neither System.Printing now System.Drawing.Printed are supported), so I would have to use P/Invoke around the native Win32 GDI API, and that's not as much fun as it may sound :(

comment Offline Folders/Sync in Windows XP, Vista and 7 Home?
That's what I ended up with - Dropbox does what I want and the data is not sensitive (so I'm not worried about giving it to a third party)

comment How to configure Dropbox as a service
One step to add: As Dropbox installs into Application data, you need to create the folder c:\program files\dropbox and copy all files from the Dropbox\bin directory to it
