comment Can power cords cause the laptop charger to spark?
Thank you for the answer. I tried the "turn it off" method, that's how I lost two of the four power cords (I update the question with the details).

@IgnacioVazquez-Abrams: Any of the normal CFC lightbulbs will exhibit "weird" behavior (as in: flash from time to time) if connected trough a switch which has "signaling light" (the small red light which shows where the switch is when it is turned off). From what I understand this is because a small current flows trough the light when turned off, which is too low to power a classical light-bulb, but in a CFC the charge builds up and flashes every couple of minutes.

@horatio: the plug end (where I plug it into the wall) sparks. Obviously I can't tell exactly the parts between which the spark forms (ground and one of the wires or between the two wires).

I too suspected the charger, but it seems unlikely to have three problematic chargers bought in two different places.

Yes, they are all 220V chargers (actually they are "universal" - it says 100V - 220V on them)

comment Can a mapped network drive be reconnected from the command line?
This should work. Some time ago I had a similar problem, and I remember resolving it using NET USE. I don't recall the exact syntax however. Maybe it was just NET USE \\server\share or I deleted and recreated the mapping...

+1 for the question. I have the same issue under Windows XP when using the Sysinternals Desktop.
