I've messed around with VirtualBox so much I see it in my sleep. However, it has been my greatest tool in learning and poking and prodding many different Linux distros.

comment Bridged network in corporate environment
The only real disadvantage I can think of is having to watch out for port conflicts when using the NAT mode. If you got something on port 22 on your machine, might be some issues if you try to forward that to the VM. When you bridge, the VM gets it's own IP and therefore it's own set of ports.

@iglvzx That site says I am in Akron, Ohio, United States. I also am not (knowingly) using a proxy.

comment Firefox “forget site” functionality or add-on
@MikkoOhtamaa I see no statement in the question about Firefox 11, and the current version of Firefox is 10 according to the "release" channel (mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html). You may wish to specify this.

This works equally as well, if not moreso in my opinion. :) Even doesn't require yet another add-on. Bonus! :)

Do you mean this Web Developer addon? addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/web-developer I've been using it pretty much daily and am on latest firefox version... Very much supported.

comment In Skype, how can I hang up from a group call that I started without ending the call for everyone else?
+1 - I, too, would like to make this happen. I tend to be the group call initiator, and also the first to leave.

comment After increasing RAM size, Windows Experience graphics index rating went down
My next question would be if the new RAM is dual-channel, but I'm not as clear on that myself... My understanding is, for 2 RAM sticks, they need to be dual channel, and for triple channel: 3... and if those don't match up you get a performance hit. But I'm not sure on this at all.

comment Is IPv6 'faster' than IPv4?
Can I quote you on that? I'd like to bring it up when every toaster, refrigerator, oven, microwave, pencil sharpener, car, tractor, house, and human being has their own IP and we're looking to expand via IPv8. :P

comment Moving layers by half pixel (GIMP)
I was about to suggest moving 1 pixel and halfing the intensity of it, and fiddling with it from there. But your method accomplishes it undoubtedly more accurately and easily. Nice!

@Brad Really? How would you check that? If that was my issue, I'll just have to kick myself! lol

comment Stutter playing 1080p using a strong system
@GZaldman Not really... I was lucky enough at the time to know someone with access to Adobe's video editing offerings and they converted it. You might look at ffmpeg, but I don't know if it can change resolutions or not...

comment Stutter playing 1080p using a strong system
@GZaldman Very likely. That was the problem with mine, I don't see why not with yours... You could try converting the video to a lower resolution, mayhaps, and see if that plays right.

Though it's not mentioned above, can it be assumed that you are outputting to a display with at least 1080p resolution? I've tried playing 720p video on a smaller display... the results sound very similar to what you are saying there.

@blsub6 and others, that must be where I got my links to official downloads last time then. I can't seem to find them on the microsoft site anywhere.
