comment bidirection sync between linux and novell
What kind of Novell server are we talking about? Are you connecting over NCP via the Novell Client, or over CIFS via Samba?

@topcat Yep, that's exactly it, one cable.

@noloader The closest I've been able to get is this KB article at SonicWall.

comment Installing Powershell 3.0 on Windows 7 - updates were not installed
Likely because of "Windows 7", even though this is probably a management workstation and likely in-scope.

comment Strange performance differences in read/write from/to USB flash drive
@MarioDeSchaepmeester Depends on what's done with it. If it really isn't doing any wear-levelling, I'd expect the FAT blocks to fail first. If it is though, it could make it that far.

comment Is it a virus on my PC?
I concur. Those command-lines are pulling executable content from Out There for local execution.

@mailq That doesn't address this poster's problem.

comment Novell Netware rs232 to lan
@Linker3000 There is exactly one active user on SF, and a couple rarely-logs-in users, and I have email alerts set up for the NetWare tag on both SF and SU.

comment Understanding “Flat memory model” and “Segmented memory model”
@Tim The backwards compatibility features are used by the OS if at all. Modern OSs don't let mere programs go to those modes because of how disruptive they are to the whole system.

That depends a lot on the router. What kind is it?

comment End user of Novell Netware needs to keep drives mounted
@KContreau IF the Netware client is installed and logged in, mapping to a Netware server will cause Windows to pass the Novell credential. If it is installed, but not logged in, it'll trigger a login prompt. Things get murkier when CIFS is the connection method, not NCP.

comment How can I re-enable the web interface of a dd-wrt router with no SSH or telnet connection?
Feel free to mark this as accepted. You won't get rep, but it does let the system know it has an accepted answer, and future goolgers will be able to find it faster.

comment Dual Stack Routers for home use?
They do exist, just not on the budget of your typical home network router. Once the device exceeds the cost of a spare PC running a hand-tuned Linux, that hand-tuned Linux starts looking mighty attractive.

+1, All very fine choices. Personally I'd also add /var to it, but that fails the 'blast with writes' criteria.

comment How important is dual-gigabit lan for a super user's home NAS?
Absolutely. Even with 7.2K RPM drives, you won't risk crossing the GigE threshold until you get more than 12ish actively serving data. Dual NICs is an extra you can do without.

comment How many connections are allowed to a Windows 7 Home Premium shared folder or printer?
@Icebrevard It is perfectly acceptable to post that comment as a question and click 'accepted'. You won't get rep, but the question gets marked as 'answered' in the overall system.
