comment Running out of disk space on /home directory?
@zharvey There's instructions for resizing your partition with GParted here. Data won't be erased under ideal circumstances although it's probably a good idea to backup anything really important. gparted.sourceforge.net/larry/resize/resizing.htm

comment Time Machine vs Source Control?
@JohnB SVN has a feature called "Autoversioning". It allows you to mount your repository as a standard WebDAV folder, and every time you save the file, it will perform a commit. If you save often enough, then you can effectively go back in time to any time you saved the file. It's not as granular as something like VS.Net where you can Ctrl+Z each character but you should save every 10 minutes anyway. If you were a single developer working on a project, it would probably work out, although I don't have much experience with it. (svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.7/svn.webdav.autoversioning.html)

comment How to become a superuser on Windows 7?
Also, especially on a corporate laptop, it may very well be set up as a local administrator but may have other security restrictions and policies imposed on it by the group policies as part of the domain (active directory) that it is a part of.

comment How do I upload huge files across the internet without using P2P?
Or go out and get a 500 GB portable hard drive. You don't have to worry about splitting the file, and it might even cost less then 4 times 16 GB flash. Plus the transfer will be way faster.

comment Does printer ink evaporate with time?
This is why I switched to laser. I print very infrequently at home, so almost every time I would go to print, the ink would be clogged. Laser printers are cheap enough now that price isn't an issue. Especially once you count the price of toner/ink. For the few times I truly need something color, it makes more sense to just bring a USB stick into a print shop, and get them to print it. Phots as well, so cheap to print out that it's not worth the bother of maintaining my own ink jet.

comment Can I use Windows to write Mac floppy disk format?
I was doing this over 10 years ago. The software that I used was called HFVExplorer (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HFVExplorer). It seems to have disappeared from the internet. Here's a mirror. fenestrated.net/~macman/stuff/HFVExplorer
