comment Aptitude vs. apt-get: Which is the recommended (aka the “right”) tool to use?
But aptitude do clean up auto packages each time it's used. While apt-get you need to start that explicit.

One thing is that aptitude search package-name works in aptitude. Another is aptitude why package-name is also useful but not in apt-get. I also thing that the command line of aptitude is a bit cleaned up compared to apt-get. But as you noticed, there are aptitude build-dep package-name but no aptitude source package-name.

The right answer here is probably not how to turn Ctrl-Space of but ask if there are an alternative keyboard sequence that could be used on chines keyboards that gives the same function in Eclipse. And there are, I just doesn't remember it now. :( I used to know it when I had chines students.

What do you want to do? What do work and what doesn't? You talk about USB and flash. USB memory stick are treated as an ordinary USB hard disk. But is it that you call flash? Why use live MS Window CD when it works from a live Linux CD? Easier to just accept that MS Windows are inferior to Linux in this too. Is it not a problem with BIOS?

comment How is a program that's not in my path being run?
*nix computers allways uses the environment variable PATH. Some shells, like csh, do have a mapping between the shells variable path and the environment variable PATH. But execvp(2) uses PATH variable. If the command isn't there, it will not find it. It doesn't look in any other place, unless there are no PATH variable, then it looks in /bin:/usr/bin:.

comment Adding dual monitor settings to xorg.conf.d
Have not tried, but isn't it just to drop your config fragments into the 'xorg.conf.d' directory? Just name it uniquely, perhaps local or your login name, but like the pattern of the others and restart the xserver. Like '/etc/init.d' or '/etc/apt/sources.d' is done. You might want to look into '/usr/shar/docs/*xorg*' directories for more information.

comment Curl Couldn't resolve host for HTTPS
I don't think that you got any problems with SSL/TSL. Have you tried 'getent hosts www.google.lk' ? Does the site redirect your web browser to another site when you use https compared with http? What dns-servers do you use, do they give the right answers? I do think that you have problems with DNS or generally, name resolvment. Could be that and a combination wit redirect of website to different servers depending on http or https.

comment mdadm RAID Fast Setup with Empty Drives?
There are a good reason to let the RAID write all checksums, and that is to early check for bad sectors on the disks. I do recommend that you look into blogs written by the engineers and computer scientist who wrote ZFS. There are a lot of usefull info about large disk systems and unique problems which they tried to solve. And it was a lot fun reading too. :-)
