comment Can't seem to disable Windows 7 password complexity requirements
I said in the question they are standalones... Regardless, the issue here is really the password complexity requirements. I listed the workgroup information in case it would help.

They come that way, I wasn't aware you could have a Windows machine that doesn't specify either a workgroup (e.g. WORKGROUP) or domain.

@Ramhound Do you know an explicit way to tell if they are on a domain? When I try to join a domain it says it's on a workgroup and the domain circle isn't checked.

The machines are standalone and we're given an admin account to use on them. The settings don't seem to be working on this machine, I posted the image to show that the settings say something other than what's being enforced.

comment How can I create accounts in Windows so they work across multiple LAN computers without a domain controller?
Yeah, I suppose that would work, except I don't want to store the passwords in plaintext...

comment Java: cannot execute binary file?
+1, and +1! I spent almost a half hour pounding my head against a keyboard until I ran across this and realized the server I was migrating to was 32 bit not 64 bit like my old server.

Also great info, thanks! I may end up using that if I give away a device since mine are jailbroken.

That is good to know, I didn't realize the disk was encrypted.

comment Is it possible to limit access to sites when sharing a web host?
I don't think my current host offers a reseller setup (couldn't find any info on one for 1and1 anyway), but that's something to look for in my next host.

comment Is IPv6 'faster' than IPv4?
That argument sounds a lot like "If you have a firewall you don't need a router to protect you online"; in theory it sounds good, but in practice... Well, I imagine we'll all find out soon ; ).

comment Do I need to buy a new Mac to develop iOS 5 apps?
Well thanks, I'll have to give some thought to whether I'm reayd to be a paid developer, but at least I don't need to buy a new computer!

Are you sure? I just don't want to spend $100 and find out I STILL need a new computer, just so I can test my own apps.

comment Do I need to buy a new Mac to develop iOS 5 apps?
It was used, yeah. ($300) I just wanted something to play with. I suppose in retrospect it would have been more efficient to get a new one, but that would have more than doubled the price.

I'll update the question with some info on why.

That's what I had suspected; very interesting read, thanks!

comment What kind of video card do I need to play BluRay disks?
Card worked out great, thanks! BTW m0skit0, I believe HDCP is on Mac's too, it's just more seamless since you can't really build your own rig.

Are you sure the lock actually enforces this though? I've read there are cameras that can (somewhat coincidentally) ignore this and write to the card anyway.

Cute. I'm going to try and pick up a new card and see if that works.
