comment How to connect a remote IP Phone to our VOIP Network?
It is a Nortel IP1230 I believe, I am waiting for verification. He got the phone before I started working here, and nobody ever set it up...

comment Need a PDF printer that allows multiple printers with one install
I use Bullzip all the time. Never set up more than 1 PDF printer, but it says it can handle it. Using just 1 works beautifully. Hope this helps.

comment Moving from 1 Linux Partition to Many over USB Mount
I'll give it a go leaving /lib and /etc in the root partition. I attached a second CF reader so I'm not copying from the filesystem I'm booted from. Fingers crossed it works :)

comment Make Microsoft Word change number literals to spellings?
Correct, difficult to scale up. However, I never said it would be a fast solution! :) @CrazyJugglerDrummer: If you've got the guts to give it a go, check out this article from Microsoft: support.microsoft.com/kb/135778 You could manually add a butt-load of entries to the file itself, though...

comment How can I get suspend or hibernate to work on my Acer Aspire 7551 laptop with Ubuntu 10.04?
Really? Dang...didn't know that. I still run 9.01 on my laptop, 10.04 is my server.

comment Redirect specific url requests to local site
@Carl_Platt: Yes, adding the suggested line would point ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js to localhost/ajax/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js See how the hosts files work? Just the domain itself is entered, the folders and files underneath that domain aren't. So, install XAMPP or similar, and on your local machine in the server root for the web server, have the structure match that of the Google API URL: (ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/) and put "jquery.min.js" there.

comment Resolution 1920 x 1080 is not available for external monitor
Also might help if you provided the OS you are running, as display settings are set completely differently in Windows vs. Mac vs. Linux.

comment A way to refresh Firefox in the background?
Probably helps if they have that extension installed... @YuriKolovsky: Here's the URL if you want to explore this solution (I use it myself for the same thing you are): addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/115

Good catch Paul! I haven't used a Mac in almost 2 years - I forget their structure is a little different! +1

comment Fix static ip address problems in Ubuntu 10.04
If you directly modify /etc/network/interfaces it will override any previous changes. Again, make sure you're in /media/HDD#/etc/network/interfaces where HDD# is the identifier for the partition with the filesystem on it, and not simply /etc/network/interfaces which will only modify the file the LiveCD has stored in RAM.

comment Backup Entire Computer
No way to run it in VMWare Player that I know of, although I'm not 100% sure of the image format. It saves them as .img files. You can choose the image saving options, whether to save an entire disk or just a partition, and the same options for where to restore the image. If anything, it is worth trying out.

What processes refuse to be killed? Anything in /var/log/messages that might help?

comment Hardware Device that splits a T1 line to 24 TTY Modems?
Yes, I really want 24 dialup modems. The company for whom I work has devices at sites where dialup is the only means of connections, and those devices must dial-in to our office, hence the need for the modems. AFAIK, no voice, just data.

comment Automatically answer 'Yes' when using apt-get install
Yeah do that. I found the answer myself about 5 seconds after I posted this =/ It's Friday, I was answering the question for someone else and when I finally got to my computer, I posted it before I realized I just had to check the help. Thanks!
