I removed this answer from the question: ~I finally managed to back up some files after a long time. I'm not sure which of the following steps are necessary, but I deleted all existing back-up files, including the system image and then I deselected all the "Libraries" virtual folders and just selected my user folder under C:\Users\.~

I'm not sure how I got it. Probably either by running jre-7u5-windows-i586.exe or through the Chrome plugin setup (e.g., chromeinstall-7u5.exe). It shows up as "Java(TM) 7 Update 5" in the "Add/Remove Programs" control panel.

That's the version with which I'm having a problem.

It's not possible since I need to uninstall my existing installation before I can install anything elseā€”it won't install over it.
