comment Is there a similar UNetbootin utility for a Toshiba External HDD?
Are you sure? I'm trying it right now and apparently unetbootin just ignores USB HDDs regardless of how they are formatted/partitioned.

comment Iptables - having trouble opening port 443
Wait, what? Just noticed that you're scanning from localhost (Nmap scan report for localhost). I.e. the loopback rule (-A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT) is the only one that matters in the iptables config. Are you sure anything listens on localhost:443?

comment sftp disabled, but have ssh access. How to mount?
Thanks for the -o sftp_server; I was consistently missing it in the docs until found here. :) Works for me in the dropbear + openssh-sftp-server combination.

Or use Sysinternals TcpView (live.sysinternals.com/Tcpview.exe) to see what process accesses that particular address.

comment Realtime sound post-processing, sound effects, Ubuntu 10.04
Thanks for the info! But, there seems to be no way to control parameters at run time. Maximum I appear to be able to achieve is to pre-configure some presets, loaded with different names, and switch between them using gnome-volume-control. Is there a better way?
