comment How can I delete a symbolic link?
This answer is not entirely accurate. Del deletes files, not folders. Therefore, you would not use del to delete the link.

comment why does excel 2007 format date and “serial value” when applying the normal style
Yes, I understand. The question is why this behavior is different starting with Excel 2007. Changed question to reflect this.

Please do not change the question. This answer should be attached to "How to Modify Windows 7 Search to Index Removable Drives" at <superuser.com/questions/248692/…;

comment How to Modify Windows 7 Search to Index Removable Drives
It is not a duplicate. In one case I am trying to "fool" Windows to index removable drives by making those drives appear as fixed. In this case, I am trying to get Windows 7 to search removable drives. I know it case because Windows Search 4 can.

I found the same reference on microsoft.com, which is why I am looking for mounting the removable drive as a fixed drive.

All the article mentions is to turn off the "indexing" attribute for the drive, which disables indexing. Event if this "indexing" attribute is turned on, Windows 7 will still not index the removable drive.

@Darokthar: Tried. Could not find anything to change the type from "removable" to "fixed".
