I'll post a new answer, but it isn't something I've tried at all.

comment Curly braces with LCtrl+LShift+LAlt+è - how?
Surprisingly, it's "xte 'str {'" and "xte 'str }'" that work.

comment How can I launch games so that while playing there is a visible, but not obtrusive session timer visible?
In the absence of a method to do exactly what you're looking for, I've provided this answer and a new one that gives some ideas without the specifics of implementation. Outside of my two answers, I can see two other paths to pursue: put in a feature request with developers already maintaining a HUD, or fork Mumble and use their open-source HUD to create a game-timer.

I can't try this out until I get home, but does "xte 'key \{'" work? This is a long shot, but does "xte 'str {'" work? Again, I'll test at home tonight and update my answer.

comment Alternatives to Windows 7 image viewer without pixellated zoom
@user1306322 I would highly recommend trying out MaxView as mentioned in my answer below. Given your criteria, I think you'll definitely find it to be a useful tool to have installed and on hand.

comment Embedding an Excel attachment in Evernote
While you have good suggestions, the question isn't about real-time collaboration. @Sam just seems to be looking for something similar to uploading new versions in Sharepoint. I only have Evernote on one desktop, however, so I'm not sure what this behavior looks like.

comment How to lock Windows 7 session with just key strokes?
This is over-involved and doesn't answer the question.

comment How do I open a single PowerPoint file in two windows?
How is this not the accepted answer? With editing enabled, PowerPoint 2010 very nicely provides the "New Window" button in the Window section of the View ribbon.
