comment Send Key in AutoHotKey without recursion
Prefixing your hotkey with $ is a less-drastic way of doing the same. ahkscript.org/docs/Hotkeys.htm#prefixdollar

comment Mapping Ctrl+w to Alt+w sends both Ctrl+Alt+w
Nope. I just assumed from the quoted text that I needed to use LCtrl instead of Ctrl.

comment How do I see the current filter being applied in Excel?
@Lupius, in a simple table with filters, all of the filters are in row 1, as seen here: snag.gy/Hr2Id.jpg How does your spreadsheet differ from my image?

comment Move a cell based on date input across row
Are you looking for a tutorial on Excel formulas? Or to hire someone to create an Excel spreadsheet for you? Or do you have a specific problem getting =vlookup() to work for this situation?

comment How can I check to see if a group of cells in an Excel spreadsheet have equivalent relative formulas?
<kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>`</kbd> is the shortcut for "Show Formulas." In Excel 2010, "Show Formulas" is on the "Formulas" ribbon in the "Formula Auditing" section.

@SNag I'm definitely interested in seeing your final solution. It would be worthwhile to post your solution as an answer to this question, in case it is useful to others in a similar situation.

I just posted my question over on the Electrical Engineering site: electronics.stackexchange.com/q/109661/41552

Also, @Nixda, excellent answer. You went above and beyond in finding all the items for purchase, avoiding any wiring or soldering. Upon consideration, I'm wondering if the sound bar would be bad news for the computer, since it can really draw a lot of power and is variable based on the volume output.

@SNag, it's your hardware on the line, and I'm no electrical engineer, but you're fine if your power supply has an over-abundance of amperage. All the outlets in your house have the same voltage, but have different amperage available (limited by circuit breakers). You don't really have to check an outlet's amperage unless you need more amperage than is provided.

comment How to use Advanced Editing in Notepad++ or similar
Your question is vague. You give the tool you have (Notepad++) and samples of the text you want to edit, but you aren't clear on exactly what you're trying to accomplish. In order to automate a process, there has to be something true of the parts to be changed that is not true of the parts that must remain unchanged. What is this for your example?

comment When pasting, how can I ignore hidden columns in the destination range?
I've run into this scenario before as well. In my case, I was pulling data from a source, and running equations on columns I had inserted. I want to be able to paste updated data into the appropriate columns by hiding the equation columns.

No. =rand()*2 might be what you're looking for, but it won't "always" be 1.

You inspired me to write an AutoHotKey script to handle this situation. Are you interested in an AutoHotKey solution? Or is that too far out of the scope of this question?

This would seem like a common enough operation, once you start making use of hidden columns and rows.

comment Can MS Excel use non-printable characters as field separators in CSV files? If so, how?
I've added an explanation for how to do it with vanilla Notepad. If there is a built-in way to change the CSV separator, I'd love to hear about it. This method is definitely not something I'd be happy to perform, especially with any regularity.

I've encountered the same thing in 2010. No sure fire solution yet, but zoom levels have sometimes made it look worse.

comment Excel - Get rid of extra space in cell when using Text Wrap
Clarification: does this happen when your zoom is at 100%? Or only when you're zoomed in/out?
