I'm currently a Java programmer. I am doing high-performance server work, Swing client work, and game design. I've developed in multiple languages on multiple platforms. I've worked seriously in the past with PHP, ASP, Unix C/C++, MS SQL Server, and MySQL.

I take a very direct approach to programming. I don't bow to convention simply because it is. Remember that DOS was a standard at one point. Remember that Windows still is a standard. Does it work, yes, I suppose, most of the time it does. I would build it much differently.

This link pretty much gives me the same information I already have. It doesn't tell me anything about how to keep my same desktop.

@Darius: Fences doesn't appear to be a Remote Desktop protocol. It looks like icon organization. Does it have this feature where I can run it as a client and a server?

I have used mouse gestures, but not this plug-in.

-1 very biased. The best way of restoring a closed tab is to install a mouse gestures addon? Ridiculous.

I can say from experience that this configuration works. As soon as we replaced the card, this worked perfectly. I also have no idea that they are specifically "passive" adapters or not. They just look like regular cables (although less than a foot long).

Ultimately, my problem was that the card was bad. Swapped out the card and voila!

+1 WORKED. Thank you very much for the tip. This sped up the application significantly. It used to be sort of fast when I opened it, and it would slow down the more and more I used it. I did keep 4-5 tabs open, but more out of laziness. I like this option, and it's quite a bit faster.

When I connect ONLY to #2 or #3, the monitors are not recognized. I don't even get a POST screen or anything. If I switch it back to #1 after boot, it shows.

Would this cause the #2 and #3 ports to not even be detectable to Windows?

Yes, I am using DisplayPort to DVI converters. Then I'm plugging those into DVI cables to the monitor. The converters are nVidia converters.

It's Windows 2008 Server, but that includes PowerShell. Isn't that handy? Thanks a lot!
