Was there an update you applied right before the documents folder disappeared?

comment Would like to change audio codec, but keep video settings with ffmpeg
The audio (as well as the video) appears to be fairly low quality. Note that you won't actually increase the quality of the audio by changing format, increasing sampling rate, and increasing bitrate.

comment DVD to MKV with multiple audio tracks and subtitles
DVD Shrink is probably the best first step. Have you looked at handbrake for the following steps to get the MKV?

comment Should I put my operating system on my fast drive or my slow drive?
What are the drive interfaces? IDE? SATAI? SATAII?

comment Is it preferable to use POP or IMAP to check multiple google mail accounts from one?
Note that IMAP uses a decent amount of bandwidth and is slower to respond than mail stored locally received over POP

comment FireFox 3.6.3 slow after adding new plugins
Is there a reason why you're running on an older version? It's up to 3.6.12 now.

comment Is PC2700 SODIMM laptop memory backwards compatible with PC100?
They physically won't fit either. They're different sizes and have different notches near the pins.

comment Failure rate of modern PC motherboards?
Failed capacitors, cracks due to heating and cooling, failure due to poor quality PSUs, electrical storms, and power fluctuations (surges & brownouts). I've probably built and rebuilt about 50 machines over the past 10 years, and I've found that motherboards typically fail for those reasons--mostly due to poor quality capacitors or external electrical issues.

As it turns out, that hosting service now has a file size limit where it didn't before. I uploaded elsewhere: mediafire.com/?ebdwsuezl0dy5v0

@Daniel I don't use bridge, but I gave it a whirl and that function seemed to operate quickly (loading bridge, however, took quite a while). @harrymc here's an example file: forceflow.50webs.com/100_0916.zip

comment Websites occasionally don't load all the way. What are some possible causes?
What browser are you using? This is a common problem with opera 10.

comment What's the difference between a shutdown and a reboot on Windows?
It doesn't matter on any platform. Everything is wiped from RAM under a reboot or shutdown. The only reason a reboot is "faster" is because like Shinrai said, the drives don't spin down and POST checks are abbreviated.

comment Is there a way to mount a writable disc in a virtual device/drive?
Burning software has the ability to do a "test burn" if that's what you're looking for. If you're looking to create an ISOs you can use and mount in virtual drives, ImgBurn is a good option.

You could try the official DivX Player (there's a version for OS X): divx.com/en/software/mac

comment How to disable all window borders from the VLC playback window
You could convert the source video to the resolution you need, instead of trying to resize the window.
