comment Standard way to duplicate a file's permissions
@Dennis Willamson: OK, but that is a possibility and I don't see any downside to using cp -p there.

The first cp command, cp has template, should use cp -p to preserve the mode and ownership attributes.

comment How to run a regex search on Google Chrome or Firefox?
Another extension in the Chrome Web Store is Regex Search. It is more highly rated than the other two, and it works for me.

I tried this, and it did not change the behavior.

In addition to the above, you also need: (defadvice message-box (around prevent-dialog activate) "Prevent message-box from activating a dialog" (apply #'message (ad-get-args 0)))

comment Make hunspell ignore leading and trailing single quote characters (apostrophes)
Thanks for the suggestion, but this does not help me. I'm looking for a way to change hunspell, not to change the input to hunspell. Changing the string throws off the column numbers in the hunspell output. That means that the hunspell output no longer maps to the original string, so it cannot be used programmatically without a lot of extra bookkeeping.
