comment Should I turn off my Bluetooth mouse at night?
"but assuming your leaving it off for 12 hours instead of being on for 24, your doubling the battery life." Is that so even when the first 12 hours have the mouse in constant motion and the half when it would be turned off it would lie idle?

comment Applications with Time Machine integration
Agree that it cannot replace something like git, but still, the Time Machine data is there anyway, so some apps might want to take advantage of it.

enough for your +1, but if there is more, I'll take it :-)

@Daniel: No, Time Machine support is essential (for the purpose of this question).

+1 if you can find a tutorial about this.

comment Booting Ubuntu Netbook Edition off SD card by with persistence provided by the hard disk
I don't want to touch the hard disk (with anything other than files that Windows can see), especially not the boot process. And I also don't understand where the difficult part is exactly. It runs fine completely off the FAT-32 on the SD. All I need it to do is tell the boot loader (on the SD) that it should find those files somewhere else. But maybe I am missing something here.

I do not want to mess with the boot sector on the hard disk. Booting off the SD (as in only loading LILO or some minimal bootstrap Ubuntu, and then running off the hard disk) should be faster than running completely off the SD (which is what I am doing now). The only reason the SD remains at all is to stop the machine from booting into Windows. I'd like to remove the SD after Ubuntu is up an running.

comment Can I restore files from a Time Machine backup onto a different computer?
+1 for "hold the option key". Could they make this feature any less discoverable? Why not just show it in the menu all the time? It's not like that menu is crowded or anything...

FWIW, WebEx has seen the light and now includes in-app controls for the camera.

comment Partition Hard Drive for use with Time Machine
+1 for Daniel. TM backups are just normal folders, you can share the partition with other data. It is a bit tricky to delete the backups (you have to launch the TM application for that), but the only reason to want to partition is if you want a non-HFS+ partition on that disk as well (for Windows for example). Also, TM will eat up all free space on that partition, which could be a minor pain.

@Sathya: Interesting. No Photoshop, but some other Adobe tools. And of course Flash player.

Oh, sorry about that. The video I rotated (through the Export dialog) was almost square, so I did not notice the problem. Let us know if you find another setting to fix that.
