comment How can I add spell checking ability in Google Talk?
For those looking to choose between the two, the clues seem to be in the names. tinySpell is a small program concentrating on spelling, PhraseExpress is a large program with many features and settings concentrating on phrases. Both programs can be disabled by default and enabled for particular programs, or vice versa.

comment How do hdparm's -S and -B options interact?
I think the -B switch affects the drive's internal, automatic energy saving features, so it stops the drive spinning itself down, but it doesn't stop the OS spinning it down upon request.

But setting it to Disabled allows my USB devices to work normally, so it doesn't disable the ports entirely.

You don't happen to be talking about a Zenbook do you? Either way I think the answer might be that the acpi driver does not support those keys yet, either that or we're not using the right one.

comment Do SSD disks do not last as long with Windows XP as with other OS?
What do you mean by "broken"? Presumably unusable sectors? Could the hardware/OS/drivers not be wear levelling properly? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wear_leveling What make/model of drives are they?
