comment Set Outlook 2010 (Exchange) to check email less often
One thought, the code could be updated so that every 30 minutes it takes Outlook out of "offline" mode, does a Send/Receive and then puts it back into "offline" mode. Would that solve the problem?

It triggers send/receive on the groups you have defined so probably the closest to imitating the F9 button. If pressing F9 doesn't work for an Exchange account then this probably won't work either. Sorry.

comment I don't have a scanner. How can I clean up a photo of a piece of paper?
@Tetsujin I thnk that technically the right answer would be how to go about doing it in Photoshop - because even though your answer worked perfectly (thanks!), someone in the future who wants to actually use Photoshop to tidy up a photo of a piece of paper (which, say, didn't come as a signable PDF) won't find your solution useful.

@Tetsujin That's a great idea, I didn't even know you could do that!

comment How to create a vcf file from xls file containing mobile contacts
Have you tried uploading them into the contacts of Gmail and then exporting them to VCF? Or, if you have Outlook installed, have you tried importing them into there and then exporting them to VCF?

comment Problems moving AppData to free up space on a drive
Personally I'd use something like WinDirStat, look for much bigger folders sitting within your Program Files folder and then move them across to your HDD with a symlink back to the original location. Trying to move App Data just makes me feel nervous.

comment How do I change Firefox to highlight “save as” or “open with” by default on the download dialog?
Good point. The way the question was phrased meant I (possibly incorrectly) inferred that they had control. A greasemonkey script could change the code to do this, but it would only work if the file type could be inferred by the target URL - which isn't always the case.
