comment Is it possible to disable the command-tab application switcher in Mac OS X Lion?
This worked great, thanks. In case it isn't clear to others, you need to add these definitions to private.xml in it's own <item> tag under <root>. Then, reload private.xml and toggle the new option.

comment How to install Python newt or snack in Mac OS X for byobu
I don't recall how I got this to work, but I do know that I reinstalled brew python and brew python3 at some point, and I also removed the system and brew python executables from my search path. Very likely re-installed byobu as well. Have you tried brew install [newt|byobu] --with-python? I don't know the spec for formulas well enough to tell which actually needs that flag.

You want brew install newt. Should happen by default with an up-to-date byobu formula.

comment How do I stop Apple Mail from opening because of iCal appointments?
Excellent. After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I was confused as to why I was receiving e-mails from both Google Calendar and myself for the same events. Thanks!

comment Hosting Ventrilo - license question
The OP complains about the vagueness of the language on the website. Downloading is broken at the moment, and I can't view the LICENSE file, so I came here. Ventrilo is to blame for vagueness and not linking to license directly, but this answer doesn't give any information not available on the website.

comment Forcing Lion Finder to open in List View?
@Nano8Blazex This is because Macs use .DS_store to store Finder view information. You can remove all these files from your harddrive (it might take a few minutes), after using Lri's answer, and they shouldn't be overridden anymore unless you switch views within the Finder itself.

comment How can I update the default Python installation/fix my $PATH on Mac OS X 10.6.7?
+1 since I've been trying to figure this out all day. Indeed, on Snow Leopard, if setting the PATH in your shell configuration isn't working, editing /etc/path as you've suggested works perfectly. For me, the problem was getting both graphical and terminal emacs to recognize I wanted to use a custom python installation. Thanks for the tip!

comment Is it possible to connect a wireless router to another access point?
Thanks for the suggestion, Breakthrough. I actually did go with a DD-WRT router and am pleased with the firmware. Combined this with the suggestion from @Daniel and daisy-chained it with my old Airport Extreme. This made the most sense, since it allowed me to use wireless printing, and didn't require purchasing a router with two wireless interfaces.

Right, I'm just not sure how to do that in the software.

comment Is it possible to connect a wireless router to another access point?
I just spent a few mintues looking over the m0n0wall documentation, and I'm not entirely sure it will connect as a client to another access point. If I'm missing something, it's because I don't know what to search for in the docs. Any pointers?

comment Is it possible to connect a wireless router to another access point?
thanks for your answer. This does give me a lot to think about. In truth, I didn't know about the subtleties of 802.11 and "master mode". I'll edit the question title to reflect this. I have two routers I can daisy chain, but I'm not sure how to connect one of them to the WAP. The public-facing router would be a Belkin Wireless N f5d8236-3, and I didn't note any way to connect to another access point in the web configuration page. If that wouldn't work, I can always purchase a different router, as you suggest.
