comment How much speedup does a hyper thread give? (in theory)
Spectacular answer @KonradRudolph! And interesting read for a thesis. I second @Ivo's request for a blog post regarding this.

comment How do Optical/Laser mice work?
@MattH yes I could do that, but then a lot of the question found within SU could be solved with a simple Google search and some reading, and would never be found here. Being able to Google the answer shouldn't prevent us asking such questions on SU. I'm giving my fellow Super Users an opportunity to gain rep answering a legit question.

comment How can I optimize the speed and lifetime of SSDs used in a RAID-0?
The goal is to be able to have two cheaper, smaller spaced drives that give me more space but not as expensive

comment How can I optimize the speed and lifetime of SSDs used in a RAID-0?
@Sblair this was done originally as a test to see if there was a significant increase in speed for a blog post. As there was, the thought was/is that one could purchase two smaller, less-expensive SSD's, then RAID them and get a faster experience cheaper. Yes, you can expect this to be blogged in the future. ;)

comment Is TRIM supported on RAID 0 configurations for SSD drives in Windows 7?
So in essence there's no support whatsoever for TRIM on any RAID configuration of SSD's. Sad.

Interesting problem you're having here... the ultimate goal here is to reduce the size of the PDF?

comment Why is copying a large amount of data (40+GB) so slow between local solid state drives?
My guess is it's the way that Microsoft handles it's data transfer... i.e. dumps to memory first then to HDD or in your case SSD.

comment What tools are available for understanding the workings of modern storage like SSD and Hard Drives?
It's kinda difficult to understand what it is exactly you're wanting. Do you want to know what to look for in a HDD and SSD? Or are you looking for tools to diagnose failures?

@muntoo does it set the system back to the default window size? Also as I said above I don't think it is possible set that default size.

Welcome to Super User! Whilst this may theoretically answer the question, it would be preferable to include the essential parts of the answer here, and provide the link for reference.
