comment Unable to Create Bootable USB from Windows Vista ISO
It should be OK, if I remember correctly the SecureDownloadManager application checks it automatically. If it still doesn't work, I don't know what could be wrong. Maybe try mounting it in DaemonTools?

comment Unable to Create Bootable USB from Windows Vista ISO
The Dreamspark downloader should check the ISO before finishing the download, but I generally don't trust any downloader programs. I'd retry.

Then it's probably a corrupt ISO image. Try redownloading or verifying the MD5 sum.

Did you create and/or remove the partitions via Boot Camp Assistant or manually?

comment RAID1 w/Intel RST — can I replace failed drive with bigger drive?
@goober The main point of cloning instead of rebuilding the RAID is the speed: usually RAID rebuilding has a lower priority, so the copying is done slower. When copying with an application it's done in the foreground with high priority, so the process goes faster.

Are you sure you have write permissions to the file/directory?

comment Adding Windows 7 VHD back to multiboot in Windows 8
I haven't tried this with VHD images, but with Linux bootloader entries and Chameleon, modifying the BCD was more successful with this than with other tools.

I understood your question, but I thought you added the VHD to the bootloader with bcdboot or some other tool than EasyBCD.

comment Is there a GUI app to monitor remote load or memory use?
I actually have Munin, which replaces my need for Cacti, but it's too broad for my needs. I'm looking for something with a 1-5sec refresh rate. I'll take a look at SNMP-based solutions, thanks for that info!

comment How to move a window that's out of bounds?
Once you've pressed an arrow key to move the window, you can also use the mouse to position the window and click when done, it's faster.

comment Can a UPS be too powerful?
I'm not certain about this, but wouldn't the new one blow your fuses on a full load if you have 7-9A fuses? On the other hand, 6A to 10A is the standard gap in my country, so I don't know if such fuses exist.

comment Easiest way to find out if user has either Windows 7 or Vista (through telephone support)?
This won't necessarily work on all laptops since some have pause hidden behind the Fn key, so the shortcut would be Fn + Win + Pause

comment Proxy Authentication - Which application is this?
I've disabled the automatic proxy settings, and so far so good, no dialogs since. But it seems interesting that that helped...

It appeared when I resumed my laptop from sleep with no programs open. Didn't try disabling automatic proxy setup, will try that next.

Thanks, I'll check netstat the next time this pops up. I checked all my background processes, no proxys set.

comment Proxy Authentication - Which application is this?
The proxy is disabled. I have a setting there for my residental area network, but since I can't set a proxy for a specific network connection and this is a laptop, I rarely enable it.

comment How to share printer across two VLANS on Cisco WRVS4400N?
@Spiff The printer doesn't support 802.11Q so no VLAN awareness. And by no access I mean even pings won't go through.
