comment Can I determine a ransomware decryption key, given an encrypted file and its original?
Even more, @Moab, if one has the encryption key, then for asymmetric cryptography one still would not have the decryption key.

comment How to fix corrupt system files without disc
If those are system files, they're probably on much older restore points too? (I don't know if one can easily copy a folder from some restore point into some temporary folder for comparison, and I don't know if one can actually copy files into system folders without Windows automatically deleting them again...)

To search before posting a question, and to ensure future visitors can find it when searching, next time please add the error messages as text, not (only) as an image. Also, please crop the images. Thanks.

comment Links in Office always open in Edge (instead of default)
Fun fact: even in older versions of Windows, Office applications would first use some built-in IE component to request the URL (Microsoft Office Protocol Discovery), and then tell the default browser to open the result of that first request. Weirdness if the server asked for a redirect when one was not logged in using IE, even when logged in using the default browser. But I'm sure that's not related.

comment How to show progress of “File History” in Windows8?
As an aside: my parents' NAS was unreachable for a few days. In the new Windows 10 notification are (righthand side of the screen; icon in the system tray), File History did complain about not being able to keep its history up-to-date.

I've removed your question about how to restore it. Please ask a new question for that, and please explain how you removed it.
