comment Did malware take over my BIOS, preventing the utility from reading all of the blocks?
@Mario I guess I could update it now, was out of range earlier and had previously took these to send over iMessage

comment Do i really need to have “Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool” update
Super User's Be Aware: There are some Windows Updates and Microsoft Software Installers that will not allow you to install them without first installing the Malicious Software Removal Tool that is currently available.

comment If I upgrade a domain joined Windows 7 machine to 8.1 will it still be joined to the domain?
@Ramhound It's not vague, it's just a general question. The answer could be either: "the system is designed to maintain your domain joined status if possible (list of conditions that would make it not possible)", or: "no, never, it will always need to be manually joined to the domain again".

@Ramhound seems like a reasonable answer, you could post it as one and provide more detail about the 'of course' part (why is it so obvious, etc)

comment How to talk into a microphone on one computer and have it output the audio on a remote computer over the internet?
See that's the thing I am trying to avoid, I don't want to have to be on the machine to 'answer' a call, I want to initiate it entirely remotely... might have to write my own plugin or something.

comment What can I do if I forgot my Windows 7 password?
Between this and the linux program that removes the password... I am surprised Microsoft wouldn't find a way to prevent these exploits if they claim to have Enterprise level security... though I guess one could argue that physical access controls are always required.

comment 64 Bit OS and RAM
There is a difference between how much RAM the OS can recognize and the maximum size 'chunks' it can allocate for actual programs. 64-bit allows for bigger 'chunks' which basically equates to more bandwidth (which means better performance despite bigger file sizes).

It may not be practical, but it would be a practical joke.

comment How to set up OSes (Mac/Win/Ubuntu) on a SSD to promote its longevity (TRIM, etc.)
My advice, which is not an answer at all, but just don't worry about it. Keep backups, check warranties on drives (some brands are better with this than others, I've had people get fresh drives from Seagate that were 8 years old and out of warranty when they failed), and when it dies just replace it. I really don't think the amount of effort you could put forth here will really be worth any difference in total life.

comment How do I calculate an over or under-provisioning amount of space for my SSD?
By partitioning do you mean to say create an empty partition to take up 20% of the disc rather than attempting to leave 20% as free space? Or then again the same could probably be said of shrinking the main partition to be 80% of the total capacity. So that means the partition has less to do with the performance than the actual total hardware.

comment Internal UPS for desktop computers?
I wondered about this today as well. I wonder if the internal ones just aren't cost effective nowadays since companies are manufacturing PCs that they want to run anywhere on earth regardless of power standards? Thus without the OEM demand they eventually fall out of the consumer market all together.

comment is it safe to use a different power adapter for my router?
@mixfuel besides getting a replacement adapter the other choices would be no longer using the router or replacing it entirely

comment Why don't some of the tiles on Windows 8 Start Screen have the “larger” choice?
Correct, but that's not the whole picture, it's possible that a metro app will also not have that feature! Also, that doesn't answer his question as to why the METRO app sometimes doesn't support the feature.

comment Why don't some of the tiles on Windows 8 Start Screen have the “larger” choice?
You said: 'Only "metro" apps, apps that support the metro interface have that options.' which is not true, it is possible for a metro app to NOT support a large tile. Your answer also isn't answering his question, which is 'why don't all of the tiles support large tile view?'
