comment Linux Directory Access Problem: Permission Denied
Does it show properly when you ssh or telnet to the box, as opposed to just opening a console from your desktop?

comment How to extract images from a flash image-viewer?
Which OS are you using? Which browser? There are tools for Linux (and such) like mencoder or pacpl... and browsers will tend to cache the files in /tmp like /tmp/FlashXyZ23 (for example). You can generally copy the cache to your home directory and run the file through the converter.

comment Run a bash script just before a USB device is unmounted?
Which desktop are you using? Gnome? KDE? Other? How are you currently unmounting it? By clicking something like a popup menu, an icon, or command line? It's certainly possible.

Gotcha. Have you checked your OS logs to see if they are picking up anything before or after restarting? Might be worth picking through /var/log/messages or even try dmesg.

comment really weird DNS problem in Ubuntu {after one month, seems like ISP problem}
Are you pulling an IP address via DHCP, or do you have a static IP? When you say that you are randomly seeing the "oops..." messages, does that mean randomly while accessing one site - or randomly accessing various sites? Can you give examples of sites that work, and one's that do not? I'd rule out search domain issues, etc.

Also, are you actually using "xterm", or are you using that to refer to something like Konsole or the like? The terminal emulator Konsole (and others like it) have the ability to do logging, and such.
