Win8x64, after format/upgrade from Win7x86, “GPT Protective Partition” on secondary drive Thanks for the info. However, this drive was purchased directly from Seagate and has been in use by Windows 7 x86 as a non-boot GPT drive in the past. But it seems like this whole "Mac" scenario is a pretty common occurrence, so it's probably good for people to know about it. I'm sure some additional details would be very helpful to some people reading this post, even if it doesn't answer my original question. If you have the time, I'm sure many readers would appreciate some elaboration on the technical scenario you are describing. Thanks! |

Win8x64, after format/upgrade from Win7x86, “GPT Protective Partition” on secondary drive @allquixotic +1 That's actually a really good contingency plan. However, I'm pretty sure the drive is not corrupt, since I was using it without any problems until I formatted the C: drive and installed Windows 8. According to msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/gg463525.aspx the C: drive might also have to be GPT, but this also doesn't make much sense considering I never had to make any such changes to get it to work with Windows 7. |

What's the proper way to setup TrueCrypt and Crashplan? @Zoredache +1 Haha, indeed yes. Although MS usually tries to use features like that as leverage to squeeze people off of the "Home" editions and onto the "Enterprise" editions. |
