comment Using cd to go up multiple directory levels
Modifying bash to interpret cd ... where the number of '.' would be the number of levels to go up. Would this cause a conflict that I'm not aware of?

I use this one quite often, but it will only take you back to your last position. Joseph's pop_global_mark will take you back to your last position and then keep going to several more past positions.

@Bob: Jonno may have been referring to the magnets in the drive motor (that spins the platters). These are indeed very powerful magnets and very close to the areas where data is stored.. Not sure what techniques are used to keep these powerful fields from affecting the data on the platters. Probably effectively shielded by giving the fields a preferential path away from the platters.

For Yosemite 10.10.3 I had to replace 'click checkbox "On" of window "Bluetooth"' with 'click button "Turn Bluetooth Off" of window "Bluetooth"'

I've a log generated by modsecurity that contains non-ASCII characters. Both cat and tail lock the terminal when called on this file. Vim merrily chugs along.
