comment Compressing with RAR vs ZIP
@sep332: that option has been there for years before I wrote my answer and it does not do the same as Linux. If your zip file had multiple files/folders at the "root" level then they all get extracted to the current folder which is a mess if you have many files there already. On Linux it will automatically put them in a subfolder.

comment How do I stroke a path in GIMP (or, just draw a line)?
What's confusing is sometimes this works fine. I created a new image just now, made a path, then stroked it and voila, perfect.

comment Why does everything in computing work with a base number of 2 to the power of x?
@surfasb uh...what? I'm saying we could have only counted the 4 main fingers, not cut 2 fingers off :S

Thanks for the answer! Somehow I forgot typewriters originally used the keyboard we have now.

comment Why is is harder to type parentheses () than square brackets [] on a standard keyboard?
@Zoredache it doesn't bug me, I was just interested from an "interface" perspective why it was the case. Inexplicably everyone else decided this factual question was "likely to solicit opinion, debate, arguments, polling, or extended discussion".

It's a shame we didn't just use the 4 fingers on each hand and use powers of 8.

comment What are the benefits of using Linux OS to develop a PHP based website?
There's also the line endings issue, although I believe most FTP software does automatic conversions.

comment Can I force Google Chrome to remember passwords?
@amph At the time of writing, doing this did work. Removing autocomplete brings up the prompt to save the password, and when you return it filled it in, even if autocomplete was off. Maybe that doesn't happen any more.
