Physician, retired. Full time software engineer/developer (Master of Science in Computer Science), currently mostly in Java and Scala, however I also dabble in Clojure, Haskell, and C#. I am particularly interested in functional programming. In past lives, I programmed in Basic, Fortran, Pascal, Forth, C (extensively, at Bell Labs), C++, Groovy, and various assembly languages. Started programming in assembly language in 1976.

I started a martial arts school in 1986 (Shojin Cuong Nhu in New Jersey).

I play the guitar (intermediate-level) and I like to cook.

That did not work. I just reset the printing system and reentered all of my printers (some not detected by Bonjour). Problem is still there.

No. I tried creating a new preset with "portrait" and "100%", but it still reverts to "landscape" and "80%".

Ahh! That's what I was looking for. I check all of the other preference tabs except that one :-).

Not particularly. I am not averse to using free software, but Carbon Copy Cloner seems like 'nagware'. I was more than willing to pay for the software (I bought Chronosync), but not to donate to CCC without receiving a copy that would stop nagging.

Thanks. I actually have several automatic backups (I'm paranoid :-)) including Time Machine and JungleDisk (for my company source code). I want to add a "whole" disk bootable backup in case my HD fails. I will update it once a week. I bought a copy of Chronosync to do that one.
