Unfortunately in the current 2.1.3 windows version, the UPnP doesn't work well.

comment Really strange windows 7 behavior (usb devices not working)
Thank you for your suggestion! Unfortunately it did not work. I tried reinstalling the usb controllers again. Whatever I do, the usb flash devices do not get recognized. After I ran USB Oblivion, though, my other devices started working (a usb printer and a phone connected via usb)

I know I can reinstall, but I would like to fix the problem without reinstalling - I have a lot of developer software installed and it would take me 2 days to reconfigure everything again. But if nothing else helps I guess that's the only step I could take.

No, no long names or paths. The copy/paste is with Explorer, also tried via Cygwin but had the absolute same result.

comment Autochk cannot run due to an error caused by a recently installed software package
I actually found a solution to this without reinstalling - get a "Windows 7 Recovery Disk", boot from it, in the options you can choose "Start Command Prompt". In the Command Prompt type chkntfs C: /X and then chkdsk C: /F. With chkntfs you exclude your drive from being checked on boot and with chkdsk you force your drive to be checked now. It fixed my problem so far. If this helps anybody else, upvote and I'll post it as an answer.

Did you ever manage to solve this problem? I'm currently in the same situation.

comment DVD/CD-ROM drives stop working in Windows 7
You should add to "Other things to try": reinstalling the cd/dvd rom driver. That fixed my problem. I did it after steps 1,2,3,4,5 and removing StarForce, Securom.

comment Slow Hard Drive When Running Virtual Machine
Try updating your VirtualBox. The current version is 4.1.8 (virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads). If the problem doesn't resolve then it means probably you have something in the background that's running and writing all the time. Open a terminal and write "top". See what's going on while you're running VirtualBox and what's taking so much resources.

@Darksair I think if you use rm -rf it will probably also work. :)

comment How to open a list of URLs in Firefox or SeaMonkey?
This can easily be fixed with changing some settings in Firefox. Go to Edit->Preferences->Tabs and select "Open new window in new tab instead" :)

Hah... I haven't thought 'bout that one! I usually do it with firefox `cat file.txt` (as WakiMiko wrote). Anyway using your way will work on all OS. :D

This is not relevant - the users asks for a solution that will work on Linux machines!

Yeah. I thought about that too. It's definitely the "right" way to go, though it won't be as easy as it sounds. (Look at my edit).
